The South Dakota Governors Prayer Breakfast will be held beginning at 6:20am on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Pierre Ramkota. The breakfast will conclude by 7:45am.
The Prayer Breakfast is an interdenominational event centered on Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world and is intended to promote His glory. The breakfast is loosely modeled after the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC. People of all faiths and professions are welcome to attend.
Our breakfast speaker is Chi-Dooh “Skip” Li. Kidnapped at age two, a refugee from the Chinese Communist revolution, a man who had seen the world by the time he was sixteen, Chi-Dooh had earned his comfortable life in America. A throwaway comment by a man he had never met shook him awake to a shocking realization that became an idea he pursued into the jungles of Guatemala during the heat of a brutal civil war, bringing him face to face with a people whose suffering defied imagination. His book Buy This Land is the unlikely but inspiring story of how lives were forever changed – all because a Spanish-speaking Chinese lawyer from Seattle once said yes to a crazy idea!
Skip Li is a partner in the Seattle law firm Ellis, Li & McKinstry and founder Agros International, an organization that has received recognition from the United Nations, the World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank for combating the root causes of poverty. He and his team also encourage and develop Jesus-centered leaders through his organization, Centered.
